CCAN is the local affiliate of e3washington.
e3 Washington asks people to integrate across education, the environment and the economy to build strong, sustainable communities, businesses and schools.
In February of 2008, 150 people from across the Mid-Columbia got together for a day to consider what would make a sustainably literate Washingtonian.
What would people need to know?
What skills should they have?
What will they value?
People love the Tri-Cities, but most still saw some room for improvement. They also had genuine concern about preserving our local quality of life. They thought we need better recycling, more home grown food, and a better understanding of the cause and effect relationship between their purchasing choices and the permanent impact on the planet. They wanted to find and support local green businesses. And they wanted all kids to have access to hands-on science and integrating outdoor education.
